eBay shows me at highest bidder at $26.57. The second highest bid was $25. I viewed the incremental bidding history and can see no reason why my winning bid was more than $25.50.

I've used the auction sniper successfully for many years, and this has never happened before.

Can anyone explain to me why the sniper jumped to my max bid? Item #270744396314

Thanks,

As Rick has pointed out, it seems there has recently been some testing with different bid increments on the .com site. These bid increments are 2x or 3x normal. That is only part of the answer as clearly $1.57 is more than 3x $0.50. The other part is that normally it would have been $26.00 not $25.50. During the automatic bidding process the $25.00 threshold was reached and the bid increment increased. So they were either applying a $2.00 or $3.00 bid increment on this auction.
