I have a snipe for item #4104916713 for $41.99. It is currently $30.99 but I have a message stating that my bid increment is too low, so I assume it will not place my bid. Why would my bid increment be too low with an $11 spread?
God luck on your snipe. Always remember to set your snipe at the most you are willing to pay. If someone bids over you, you will be assured they paid too much! There are normally always more to show up on Ebay auctions down the road.
As the others have so aptly stated, always bid the max you are willing to pay. Then update prices everytime you check into AS. This is where Bid Groups are so important. Just read up on the bid group, and then go and throw all of these gizmos into the folder. Sooner or later you will win one at your price. And it is fantastic when it happens. You did not overbid and you got it at your price. WELCOME and GOOD LUCK. Keep up informed...
I almost got snagged a few times when I first signed up, because it seemed intuitive to me that if I clicked on the refresh button, AS would update my prices, just like eBay would. Then I found out that I needed to click on Update Prices for that. Drag!
It still seems to me that an auto-update feature tied into the refresh button would be a great feature for AS to add.
Nevertheless, I love AS, I've won lots of great stuff, and I hope you will, too!
Just remember that hitting the UPDATE PRICES button has nothing to do with AS sending your snipe--it will go through, regardless.
The purpose of the update button is for you to see the most current price. Naturally AS cannot continuously update every auction for thousands of snipers; that would take considerably huge and wasteful resources. They update the auction once a day until the final 24 hours, when they check it after 12 hours and then numerous times in the final 12 hours.
