Hey all, I have never bid on ebay and have an item coming up today that is important for me. Any tips are welcome.

Here is what I do not understand anbout sniping. Item is currently at $6k and I will pay up to $7k. Does AuctionSniper only make one bid at the end of the auction in the next higher increment? For example if the item is at $6800 at auction end, only one bid for $6900 would be placed in my name (not $7k)?

I assume that this is the case, but since I am learning on such a high priced item, I don't want to make a big error.

AS will only place one bid, and that will be for the full amount. Someone else might snipe at the last second which would increase the auction price and AS would have the time to respond if it only increment-bid.

OK, I check out the TIPS, thanks for that.

AS will just send my maximum bid in at the lead time I set it to. Correct?

Ebay will accept my MAX bid, but only go up one increment at a time? (So if the item is at $6552 and I set a max bid of $7500, Ebay would place a bid of $6652, $100 increment)?

Usually correct, but during ebay’s prime time (Sunday evenings) don’t be surprised if the snipe is placed before the specified lead time. The maximum bid part of that quoted statement is correct.
