Shirley SuperSniper,

You seem to want to listen, I am speaking to you because of that.
Hunh!?! Do I detect an implied snub there directed my way?!? Frown Oh, I am SO CRUSHED! Razz

I actually have 2 different selling Id.s a buying Id. and a posting Id. for eBay and dam_mad isn't any of them.
Awwww NUTS! How will we EVER be able to review your 100's of positive FB and see for ourselves what a wonderful ebayer you really are?!? Confused

If I log in incorrectly I know about it immediately.
Someone previously posted that AS told me on my first use that I logged in incorrectly.
Still beating that still dead horse... Razz

Yes and that was after the auction was completed. If I bid manually on eBay and do not log in correctly prior to bidding on an item they do not wait until auction end to tell me.
Inappropriate comparison.

If you would be so kind as to pass this suggestion along to AS maybe they would not only gain new users but also more revenue.
Not likely. You're the only one that's complained about this, and YOU'VE sworn off using AS! So changing the program JUST FOR YOU would be a waste of time, now wouldn't it?

So Thank You for your time I know you'll be glad you won't see me here on these boards or this site again.
Yeah, right! You'll just stop posting under dam_mad! You'll still be lurking around, and maybe even get a new ID to post under! We KNOW how you guys operate! Wink

Now wasn't that nice?! See, I knew he'd warm up to us! Smile

I can admit that I may have possibly made an error in a keystroke on log in and I am big enough and open enough to admit that.

You must have changed your eBay userId or password since you signed up with us. If you signed in with your old info you might have wondered how we were going to snipe using your old info. At that point you'd want to updtate it.

What I am saying is " why doesn't A.S. software verify that a login is correct or incorrect upon setting up a snipe instead of letting a user assume that they are ready to bid???

Primarily because password and userId changes are infrequent, and most users update them properly on our site when they do make the change on eBay.

It would also slow down the adding of snipes, and could potentially give incorrect information back if eBay were to change the page we used to validate your info. In that event every user would be told their info was incorrect and it would lead to mass chaos with users, and block them from adding the snipe.

There are probably more reasons, but those are a few.
The new member maintains that he is only trying to "help," yet he is brand new. It is difficult to help when one is brand new and inexperienced in the product. BY definition, the intern is not the trainer of the veteran.

It is even MORE difficult to help when one comes in swearing, screaming, insulting in the first post, and continues to make sarcastic comments (e.g., "AS, which you all cherish so deeply"). Any pretense of assistance is a joke, and should be summarily ignored until such time that the person apologizes or goes away
Damn software - Firstly why doesn't this X!X!?XX!forum allow me in? I have had five attempts just now. How the hell should I know what the correct password is from the list of six that Windows has for me. Why has it got to be the last but one?

(Sorry about my reputation folks, but the above is absolutely true!)

Also why also does AS Forunm log in ask me rudely to "go back" each time. What can't it supply a nice polite message like "Apologies you senile old duffer, but try again, this time try thinking first"

Oh yes, now what was I about to post on....
I lost five (yes five snipes) last year when I changed my ebay log in from my email address to something exactly the same without the @. AS should really have guessed that I would be forced to change my password, automatically tested ebay 5,768,897,765 times and come up with the right combination that enabled it to place my bids. Why didn't it?

I lost a rare book on Weaning Vultures, a collection of valuable knotted string, a toothbrush that was very unusual because it had no hole in the handle. Gutted I am.

Finally, why doesn't AS provide some memory improving exercises for those who can't remember their passwords and don't know where they are half the time. Now what was I doing....?

Signed
Furious and very confused
Id like to weigh in on this topic. Ive used AS successfully Wink so have no gripes there. Also, I dont feel emotionally invested to defend it Big Grin. As an AS user, I'd like to see more analysis of what happened and take corrective actions if possible. I dont give a damn if Dam_mad participates again or not. This is for me and other new people as well as you pros.

I hate trying to keep track of remembering multiple logins and passwords. Part of my difficulty in understanding is lack of knowledge, so I call on you pros. I am assuming you register with AS initially with a legitimate Ebay ID and Password. I also assume this is tested at the time of validation. Then there is some way to register other IDs and passcodes on AS to post, etc? Is it possible that in the rush to meet customers, Dam used a posting ID which had no analog on Ebay when he placed his snipes? At this point AS would not check the legitimacy of this ID Password before placing snipe? This make sense? Cool

happy sniping

This forum needs a section entitled Vent your Spleen where people who have just lost can go to rant and rave. Only one posting per topic should be allowed - the only response would be an automatic one pointing the user to the FAQs. Wink

I've previously suggested that there is a link on the AS you've lost email to the FAQs. This might even point to the FAQs relevant to the way the item was lost...
