I've noticed that, in some cases, placing a snipe causes the price of the item on eBay to jump up as though I was placing a proxy bid directly with eBay.
That’s basically what AS is doing for you – placing a very, very, very short proxy bid.

Is there a direct linkage between auctionsniper and ebay?
Nope. That is, no more of a linkage than you have with ebay. AS has to go thru all the steps you would to place a bid.
Freematt - are you saying that when you set up a snipe on AS the price goes up on Ebay even before AS snipes for you?

Hmmm - try to apply some logic here. You are effectively asking AS to bid on your behalf 5 to 10 seconds before Auction ends. If you win AS gets some money. If you lose then AS gets nowt. So why would it benefit AS to encourage other bidders to bid on your item. I think you're stretching conspiracy theory a bit far... Wink

Who told you I was paranoid?!

Or are you saying that the price rises when you bid as if it was a proxy bid?

Guess what - it is a proxy bid! My example (elsewhere) can be used to illustrate what happens: Items stands at 40, my snipe was set at 50.03
When the snipe gets placed I win 'cos the other bidder had set his bid (ie. proxy) to 50 exactly.

An AS snipe is an eBay bid on your behalf for exactly the amount you specify (remember to bid your max).
Nothing sinister there!

Door Number 1 ...
Freematt - are you saying that when you set up a snipe on AS the price goes up on Ebay even before AS snipes for you?

... or Door Number 2?
Or are you saying that the price rises when you bid as if it was a proxy bid?

I believe that Door Number 1 is the correct door. I left a Door Number 2 response.
