I want to snipe an auction that finishes at 18:03 (British Summer Time), I've noticed all the reccomendations about bidding for auctions that end exactly on the hr or 1/2 hr, and having a long lead time. Should ebay have returned to normal by 3 minutes after the hr, so should a 5 sec lead time be alright?

Also, the item is actually on ebay.co.uk, does anyone know if they use the same servers as ebay.com, so if i'm bidding on somethin that ends sunday evening, usa time, then i should put a longer lead time, but if it ends in the night usa time i can put a shorter lead time?

thanks, Glen

Glen,

The problem appears related to auctions that end "exactly" on the quarter hours, but it's wise to widden that range by a few seconds, but not necessary by 3 minutes.

I would discourage 5 seconds, even when it's not Sunday evening (prime time). Think about using 8, even 12 seconds. It's very hard for someone to place a manual counter snipe in that amount of time. If someone does outsnipe you, it's probably someone on a service like AS.

As we all like to say on this forum, "It's not important that you be the LAST snipe. It's important that your the HIGHEST snipe."

Good luck.
