I've spun Pekingese fur for a friend. I won a coconut as a door prize at a party and decided to try to spin the fibers on the outside of the coconut. That does not work very well on a wheel.
It might have been the coconut that I remember. Dog fur? O yikes!
I’d let this go, but I am worried that these kind of out-bursts will continue. Now, Mrs. M, if you promise to be nice, I’ll stop interrupting you and Christine. That way you won’t have to delete more posts.
Dog fur is a little trickier than most wools, depending on the breed of sheep and the type of dog. If anybody finds an auction for dog fur that's at least 2" long, let me know. That stuff makes a nice warm yarn. There's no dog odor after it's washed.

Have you ever done human hair? Couldn't you get all the dog hair you need at a groomer?
The stuff that's brushed out makes a much nicer yarn than fur that's been cut. And no, I've never even thought of trying human hair! I think I'll pass on that one.

Why is that, Falcon? I would think it would be better than dog hair. But, I have never tried it so I am sure you know.
It's just the thought of making something out of human hair, Mrs. M. And human hair is different from animal fur and wool. It's slicker and wouldn't hold together very well.
