AS didn't place my bid (cont)

Hi I'm back again.

Just had another look at the ebay bid history on the item thet AS failed to place my bid on and I noticed that the last 3 bids were placed within about 4 seconds of the bidding ending! My system was virtually freezing at that point so it would have been impossible for me to make a final manual bid in the closing seconds as the other 3 bidders had.
Funnily enough, as soon as the bidding had finished, my computer went back to normal and I could surf normally again! Is this normal in the closing stages of a bidding auction?

Please excuse my newbie ignorance.

Also, I'd be gratful if someone could tell me how to place bids within seconds of the auction ending as the other bidders had.
