AS charges when they dont snipe my item?

Twice Ive had AS charge me when I won the item myself. I put my snipes in and it is outbid before auction ends. Once I just bid myself and got charged second time AS wouldnt let me delete the snipe that was too low(probably too close to auction end) and I was charged. This doesnt seem quite right too me, I realize its minor for a great service but it is frustrating

It's always best to bid your max rather than to fiddle around at the end (it rather defeats the object of using AS methinks).

In these cases AS did place the snipe for you (the service for which you are paying) and you won. You were willing to pay the fees if AS had placed the winning snipe and the cost is minimal so I think it's best to just accept it and bid your actual, real-live max next time!
