Went to my ebay page today and it says AOL presents ebay. I don't have aol, never have used aol, etc. so it's not a link from elsewhere. Did AOL buy ebay?!??!?

America Online said it will receive $75 million from eBay to promote the online auctioneer on the AOL service, AOL.com and other AOL brands.
The four-year deal calls for both companies to create customized and co-branded sites for AOL's brands. eBay will promote AOL as its preferred Internet online service.
As a a person that does not like the way AOL operates, that is not good news to me. Any influence AOL might have on Ebay, IMO, is negative! 
Uggg, everything is about $$$$. You'd think ebay would want to keep things running smoothly. AOL has to control everything that comes near them, and usually badly. I've never used them but my daughter did and she was never so happy to be rid of them. My son (computer guy) always called AOL A-O-H#LL. When those discs would come in the mail he'd grab them away and throw them in the trash and say "if you EVER put that on your computer don't ask me to fix it!" heh, never saw him so adamant about anything like that!
Don't think there will be much influence either way. It's just a deal to advertise each other. No competition or duplication of services is what makes the deal appealing to both.
Still, any association with AOL will be a bit of a put off. I am sure no one will actually stop using ebay just because of this.

I sent a cancellation fax for my AOL after 11 minutes use. Didn't pay attention to my credit card bill and was charged for 5 months. Even though they admitted the 11 min's use was on the first day they refused to refund all my money. Got stuck for 2 mo's. About $11.00 a min. What do I think of AOL? *!@%&*%$.
I've heard nothing but negative things about AOL.
Last Christmas somebody hung lots of those free time on AOL computer disks from a tree outside their house. It was really pretty and sparkly. That may be the best use for them.

I was checking on my peach tree, looked across the alley, and saw a bunch of AOL disks hanging from his trees. Cleaver idea to scare the birds away.

The Munchkin seems to have taken a likin' to *posting* them. He sticks them everywhere and anywhere they will fit.
