Anti - Snipe???

We'd need to know the item number to better figure out what might've happened. I can't imagine anyway any seller would be able to do anything that could be called anti-sniping! There had to be other bidders in the auction to push your snipe up to your max.

It might be helpful if you supplied a couple of auction numbers. If there's any privacy issues, an alternative would be to post some bid histories and modify the bidders' ID.

Everyone is advising you right. Just give us a little more info so we can check it out for you. The easiest thing is the auction number.

Thanks everyone but I think I worked this one out. The bid increment changed early in the bidding and my increment (basically $0.50+$0.01) just followed suit.

BUT I have been done this way before (ages ago) where there was only 1 bidder apart from me and we mysteriously ended up at my maximum (to the cent). I have heard this from other snipers too so next time I see it happen I'll post an item number here. Thanks again. (PS - I LOVE AS)

The old-bid-increment trick. This comes up alot, so you're not alone on this. And, to make things more complicated, one need not win by a full increment. One can place the last bid and win by a penny.
