I think this may be a silly question, but I really want to know about this. If I place the Max Bid in AS, does it affect the Ebay maximum bid?

Suppose current bid is $10, and I place the max bid $100 in AS. Then my proxy bid in Ebay would change to $100 also?(Then I'll be the highest bidder.) Or AS would automatically bid less than $100 but more than the highest bidder's proxy bid in the last lead time? (And nothing would happen before the last lead time even though I've been outbid before I place my item in AS.) And in other case, if somebody place bid more than $100, then he will win. Right?

I'm so confused about this, please make the first user understand clear! Thank you so much!

Welcome to our forum! Wow! You are a little confused..or maybe I am!! Wink

A snipe is just like a proxy bid. The exception is that AS places it for you to Ebay in the last moments of the auction, one time, for the amount you need to win IF you have placed a proxy high enough to outbid the last placed bid. This happens at the auction end only, and until that time, does not have an effect on anything. BTW, it defeats your purpose of surprise to bid on Ebay yourself before the snipe is placed. The idea of sniping is to avoid bidding wars!

Elaborate? Do you think your 5 posts were boring? What I don’t understand is why you deleted a post in every one of the postable forums. All within a couple of minutes of deleting the “stickly for fun” post to DSW. I’ve never see the forum home page that corrupted. Was it hormonal? Is that why you posted and then deleted it right away in all the remaining forums, including “Items Wanted”?

If it really isn’t boring, and if you feel the need to elaborate or respond, please do so in General – that’s the rule, remember?

Well said.

Is this in the little boxes down the bottom?
quote:
yeah, it was the boxes on the AS screen
If you have more than one snipe entered, the bottom numbers are the total for all snipes entered.

Is there not an audit trail of actions, that can be reviewed?
No.

What happens if you click the modify button and correct your max bid?

If something still seems wrong file a support case from the help page. (very bottom) They will be able to go into your account and SEE what you are talking about.

yes, so I have put in 267.67. But when I returned, after having bid my EBAY account up to 265.00, the total here on AS was 286.00. I was thinking, that is ABOUT what it would be, price plus shipping, but still not exactly.

any ideas?

On a related but separate note, are you saying that you put in a snipe here, then went back to eBay and bid, before returning back here?
yes, so I put in the original snipe here, but then the auction price kept rising, when I checked on ebay the price had risen quite a lot, so I rebid on ebay and was winning the auction at 251.00 after having put in a max bid of 267.67. My snipe was below that, so when I came back to AS, I found that my snipe was now at MAX BID listed on AS was now 285.00. this was not the amount I put in on ebay, nor on AS. I was going to increase it anyway, to over 300$, but I hadn't yet. I thought, that it should have been pulling my max bid from ebay, but this number was differant.
We're beginning to stray from your original problem.... BUT...

The point of using AS is so THEY will bid for you near the END of the auction. Why do you keep returning to eBay and running the price up by placing manual bids?

STOP THAT !! You're only making the item more expensive for yourself. Don't engage others in a bidding war. Let AS fight the battle for you... at the end... where it counts.
Okay, here's my dilemna.

I bid on an item through Ebay. Then, I came here and signed up. When I registered here, the item automatically showed up in my list. I went ahead and made it to where this auction would be e-sniped.

Now to my question.....since the auction is going to be esniped for me tomorrow (when the auction ends), since I'm the high bidder anyhow, will it "bid war" against me? Like, will esnipes recognize that the high bidder is already me and not try to bid against me, therefore raising the price from where it's at now?

Confusing, I know, but I need to know so I can either remove it from being esniped or keep it listed. Thanks in advance.

If your snipe is entered, AS will send the bid for you. If AS bids for you and you win, you will be charged a fee or a free snipe, even if it wasn't the snipe that won the auction for you.

No. Using AS is just like placing a bid and raising your max at eBay... except for the timing of course. You can not get into a bidding war with yourself.

If your max bid on eBay is the same as your snipe bid, you should cancel your snipe and save that freebie for next time.

...and WELCOME to the forum.

I cannot remember the exact circumstance, but I placed a bid on an item when I first joined AS and then sniped it a little higher. It did place the snipe at the next increment. Perhaps Rick or Chatter can tell us why it was. My memory fails me.
