Ok here is the link to the bid history for the item:

http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=3333406880

My snipe bid was 167.76 so GPB 1.75 more than the winning bid.
As you can see in the link the last 2 bids are:
GPB 165.01 and GPB 166.00, 32 and 24 seconds before the auction end. So bid increments of less than GPB 1 are accepted.
Anyone knows why I did not win it?
Clicking on the link
"Click here to see eBay's response to your snipe"
In the e-mail from Auctionsniper only brings me to my snipe page, so I can't see eBay's response!

Any help in understanding the issue (so to avoid problems next time) will be highly appreciated.

Got it.

ebay bid increment problem:

Because this comes up often, the following was posted by amh (forum member) on 6/04/03 at 4:32 AM:
Here's the table (from http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/bid-increments.html):

Current Price Bid Increment

£0.01 - £1.00 £0.05
£1.01 - £5.00 £0.20
£5.01 - £15.00 £0.50
£15.01 - £60.00 £1.00
£60.01 - £150.00 £2.00
£150.01 - £300.00 £5.00
£300.01 - £600.00 £10.00
£600.01 - £1,500.00 £20.00
£1,500.01 - £3,000.00 £50.00
and up £100.00

Hope this helps. Sorry it took so long.

Don't leave. Give me or Steve a minute to formulate a response. This is starting to look like one of Andrew's areas, but hang there while I think about it.

I know that yours didn't go in for bid increment. But, I'm stumped on why that top bidder was able to place a 166.00 bid after a 165.01 bid.

Give me a few more minutes. If I can't get it, I'll tell you.

I'm stumped. Someone else is going to have to supply a better answer.

(no fluff zone)

I heard my name calling ...

yes ethan9482 bid 165.01, but the previous high bid was £155, so with a bid increment of £5, the high bid at 4.48.09 PDT was displayed at £160, concealing the higher proxy bid.

At that time any bid of £165.00 or higher was a valid bid. A bid of £165.00 or £165.01 would have lost to ethan9482 (first in time in the event of equality), but the bid of £166.00 won the day.

This exemplifies my long-held belief that a snipe should reflect an amount which is more than a simple multiple of the bid increment. The bid as shown by eBay was £160, and the bid increment was £5 at that level. The winner bid one increment plus £1 and it was that extra pound that carried the day. Smile
