Aaargh, why I did not win this one?

Ok here is the link to the bid history for the item:

My snipe bid was 167.76 so GPB 1.75 more than the winning bid.
As you can see in the link the last 2 bids are:
GPB 165.01 and GPB 166.00, 32 and 24 seconds before the auction end. So bid increments of less than GPB 1 are accepted.
Anyone knows why I did not win it?

In the e-mail from Auctionsniper only brings me to my snipe page, so I can't see eBay's response!

Any help in understanding the issue (so to avoid problems next time) will be highly appreciated.

I know that yours didn't go in for bid increment. But, I'm stumped on why that top bidder was able to place a 166.00 bid after a 165.01 bid.

yes ethan9482 bid 165.01, but the previous high bid was £155, so with a bid increment of £5, the high bid at 4.48.09 PDT was displayed at £160, concealing the higher proxy bid.

At that time any bid of £165.00 or higher was a valid bid. A bid of £165.00 or £165.01 would have lost to ethan9482 (first in time in the event of equality), but the bid of £166.00 won the day.

This exemplifies my long-held belief that a snipe should reflect an amount which is more than a simple multiple of the bid increment. The bid as shown by eBay was £160, and the bid increment was £5 at that level. The winner bid one increment plus £1 and it was that extra pound that carried the day. Smile
