DON'T get me wrong, AS is a GREAT utility! It has just FAILED me TOO often to be considered RELIABLE any longer.

If you're not a noobie then why did you snipe with a round number of dollars? Experienced snipers know that, to improve your chances of winning you should add a few cents/pence to your snipe. Likewise three seconds is not recommended - 8 seconds is the lead time used by me and others here.

Sadly in this Auction you were almost definitely out-sniped. How do I know? Well, look at arepechu's winning bid - $51.51 - that's not a full increment above yours. So, it's probable that s/he was also a sniper. Also, when your snipe was placed the auction would have shown a resulting high bid of $42 until the winning snipe/bid arrived so it's unlikely that A. arepechu could have reacted that quickly and B. they manually bid $51.51...

If you were as experienced with AS as you claim then you'd know that it's not the Internal Clock that gets adjusted, it's the lead time which AS adjusts depending on server response times. This is especially so of Auctions that end on the hour (as your one did).

As Rick said, it's supposition that you lost due to the early placing of your bid - still, I hope you feel better after sounding off here. I suggest that you read the FAQs, the Help pages and the forums so that you minimise your chances of losing - from your postings and your ebay feedback and bid history your inexperience is showing! more >>>

Judging by the number of wins in the above list (a few I notice with lead times of 7 seconds!) I'd stick with AS if I was you - just learn to use it properly!

There does seem to be a stubborn refusal amounst some people in this forum to even admit to understand suiterenovation's experience.

I've also experienced both early and late bidding from auctionsniper. I changed my lead time to 10 seconds from the default of 7 just to give AS a little more breathing room but just yesterday had 2 x 'not in time' situations.

Whichever mechanism AS uses to allign itself to ebay's clocks is significantly flawed, until someone passed this back to the AS developers it's very unlikely to get resolved.

Seems you are quite rude and still don't get it. I answered the questions carefully and pointed out the limits of your knowledge - your response was to be quite offensive.

Listen carefully newbies - AS will adjust the lead time that you specify (I use 8 seconds) to try to ensure that your bid gets placed in a timely manner. Thus, if the servers/network are slow the lead time will increase and, occasionally, a snipe will be missed. Thus, if you're sniping a 'must have' then bid yourself, otherwise live with the limitations of AS. To reiterate, I have used this service extensively and have never had a 'not in time' message. And if I was agrieved, I wouldn't shout at the Forum regulars, I'd log a support call with AS support - they might even give you some free snipes.

2. You bid exactly one bid increment above the current

Please go back and read region2's posting. The fact you were beat by less than a bid increment means that they didn't see your max bid.
