If you're not a noobie then why did you snipe with a round number of dollars? Experienced snipers know that, to improve your chances of winning you should add a few cents/pence to your snipe. Likewise three seconds is not recommended - 8 seconds is the lead time used by me and others here.

Sadly in this Auction you were almost definitely out-sniped. How do I know? Well, look at arepechu's winning bid - $51.51 - that's not a full increment above yours. So, it's probable that s/he was also a sniper. Also, when your snipe was placed the auction would have shown a resulting high bid of $42 until the winning snipe/bid arrived so it's unlikely that A. arepechu could have reacted that quickly and B. they manually bid $51.51...

If you were as experienced with AS as you claim then you'd know that it's not the Internal Clock that gets adjusted, it's the lead time which AS adjusts depending on server response times. This is especially so of Auctions that end on the hour (as your one did).

As Rick said, it's supposition that you lost due to the early placing of your bid - still, I hope you feel better after sounding off here. I suggest that you read the FAQs, the Help pages and the forums so that you minimise your chances of losing - from your postings and your ebay feedback and bid history your inexperience is showing! more >>>

Judging by the number of wins in the above list (a few I notice with lead times of 7 seconds!) I'd stick with AS if I was you - just learn to use it properly! Wink

Strange. More than that weird!

Sure it provoked R2 into defending the purity of the board, but being naturally inquisitive, I clicked on the links.

The first one is completely dead and the second leads to one of those advertising sites that trade on dead names!

So can someone explain why Mr/Ms Bulldog would post here with two dead links advertising his/her favourite cause?

Confused (aka paul)

Now we are all confused!

Easy done mind you - its answering all those questions about:

"Well I would have won if AS had placed my bid within one second of the end of the auction!"

"Were you the higgest bidder?"

"Whats that got to do with anything? If AS had placed my bid at the last second I would have won"

"How much did you bid?"

That is of no importance whatsoever" "If AS had placed my bid at the last minute I would have won"

"Look there is a complete solution"

"Solution?"

I absolutely guarantee you don't have to stay up all night and you can't lose. 100% success with the Paul "Surefire" eBay winning system guarantees you a win on every auction you care to bid on with no timing problems ever. That's a promise! Just send your $100 cheque addressed to "Paul's Holiday in the Bahamas Fund", c/o The Lunatic Asylum, East Cheam UK"

For now, I will just give you a glimpse of my tactics here (N.B.does not apply to a real estate auctions)

I hope I can disclose this in absolute confidence. I can just say, it involves placing a bid for $5m at any time that the auction is running. Can't say any more ......... Wink

Douche,
Did you NOT see the POST TOPIC!!!?

THE CLOCK placed the BID 30-40 PLUS seconds BEFORE my snipe was DUE to be placed!

WTF does THAT have to do with my numeric increments?

Somebody OUTBID ME because they saw my max bid more than 30 - 40 seonds B E F O R E the end......

I NEVER lay my hand on the table before the end!!!!!!!! THATS what caused ME to LOSE the auction!!!!!

EVERYBODY saw my hand before bidding ended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANY quesions NOW doofus?
There does seem to be a stubborn refusal amounst some people in this forum to even admit to understand suiterenovation's experience.

I've also experienced both early and late bidding from auctionsniper. I changed my lead time to 10 seconds from the default of 7 just to give AS a little more breathing room but just yesterday had 2 x 'not in time' situations.

Whichever mechanism AS uses to allign itself to ebay's clocks is significantly flawed, until someone passed this back to the AS developers it's very unlikely to get resolved.

Seems you are quite rude and still don't get it. I answered the questions carefully and pointed out the limits of your knowledge - your response was to be quite offensive.

Listen carefully newbies - AS will adjust the lead time that you specify (I use 8 seconds) to try to ensure that your bid gets placed in a timely manner. Thus, if the servers/network are slow the lead time will increase and, occasionally, a snipe will be missed. Thus, if you're sniping a 'must have' then bid yourself, otherwise live with the limitations of AS. To reiterate, I have used this service extensively and have never had a 'not in time' message. And if I was agrieved, I wouldn't shout at the Forum regulars, I'd log a support call with AS support - they might even give you some free snipes.
