I have bid on 2 items with odd amounts i.e. $277.37 On each item the winning bid has been exactly $5.00 more than mine. I have been using a 5 second lag and I swear the last bidder posted his amount at about 10 seconds to go. Suggestions to unfrustrate my Sniping life?

The exactly $5.00 comes from the bid increments eBay uses. The winning bid is not the highest dollar amount bid. It is the lesser of 1.) Next to highest bid (yours) plus one bid increment.... or 2.) the highest bid if less than one full bid increment above next to highest.

Care to share an auction number ? If not I understand.

and to the forum !

Since $5 is less then the next bid increment, I can understand your post. No suggestion, other then .77?

P.S. Pay no attention to this post. Puppy is right - Rick is wrong.
