$5.00 even outbids

Of course, you don't know how much the other bidder was bidding, only what it took to bid over your bid. If you want to post the auction #, someone will look at it for you.

And,

The exactly $5.00 comes from the bid increments eBay uses. The winning bid is not the highest dollar amount bid. It is the lesser of 1.) Next to highest bid (yours) plus one bid increment.... or 2.) the highest bid if less than one full bid increment above next to highest.

Care to share an auction number ? If not I understand.
