I bet you could find all kinds of horror stories doing an advanced search and specifying a crazy minimum number of bids like 30 or 40.

By contrast I got outsniped (couldn't get my lowball bid in) on the following item from the same seller that ended some days ago, which is a classic case of an item ending with a couple of snipers:

In interests of science I did the advanced search specifying minimum 50 bids and found this:

And, after all of that, they still did not meet the reserve. Whew.

Hmm, the "period oil" painting at http://cgi.ebay.com/MAGNIFICENT-PERIOD-OIL-ANNO-1872-FO...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
ended with 5 different snipers. Counting just the snipers who got their bids in, of course. 5 snipes within 11 seconds before close, 3 of them within 5 secs (shaving it unnecessarily close there, I'd say). So the current bid went from $4500 to $7400 in the last 11 seconds. Most interesting finish I've seen in a while. There are definitely 2 or 3 guys there who maybe ought to rethink their approach to bidding.
