2 snipes were deducted for same auction

Hi! I hope this is the right forum. I used AS for first time (prefer manual - love the thrill! - but was not home). I read FAQ before using, and it said if you snipe twice on same auction, you don't get charged. I used 2 snipes on the same auction, won it, but had 2 snipes deducted from my account.

Do they deduct your free snipes even if you lose a snipe? I did lose one. Or do they deduct FREE snipes if you use more than one on the same auction?
