Choochpotato isn’t part of determining the final bid. Portcity34’s bid is one increment over marcuril2. Had portcity34 not placed a snipe, than marcuril2 would have won for $51 (choochpotato’s $50 bid + $1 increment). Hope that helps?

Portcity34 and marcuril2 were both her snipes so she actually only paid an increment more than she would have had to pay if she had only sniped once.

No. The auction would have closed at $51 had either portcity or marcuril not placed a snipe. With the two ID's, and snipes, the auction closed at $86.50 ($35.50 more).

I am coming into this late, but we say that normally one cannot bid against oneself. With two different eBay ID's, one certainly can!

A most unusual example of emotional bidding. But then so is starting three different threads on the same topic. Anyway, I hope the OP joins and uses AS consistently.

By the comments made, it sounded more like a mistake, instead of “emotional bidding”. The only emotion, might have been not wanting to upset a friend that was bidding on the same item.
