I recently installed SP2 for XP.
This obviously activated a popup blocker for IE.

Now the link for "SnipeIt now" does not work anymore. When clicking on it, an warning icon (hand with "!") appears and loud tone is to be heard.

AFAICS I would have to change something in the securtity settings.
Unfortunately I did not find what and where.

As I'm seriously missing the feature, I would be most thankful for hints on how to re-enable the most useful SnipeIt now applet.

TIA

Haven't installed this myself, so may not be much help. Found the following info. About half way down the page is about popups. They talk about having an 'allow list', but don't give much information.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/security/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnwxp/html/xpsp2web.asp

You may want to file a support case with the above link. (help tab, very bottom of page) Maybe the programers at AS have some work to do. Looks like microsoft wants web sites to use ActiveX controls instead of scripts.

Best I can figure, try adding eBay and/or AS to your 'trusted sites zones'. IE Tools --> Internet options --> Security --> Trusted sites

Thanks for your reply, Mrs. M.

The popup blocker is *disabled*. The icon in the StatusBar shows that.
In addition I entered the URL in the expection list for trustable sites.
To no avail.

I had also sent a mail to support.
Sam reacted immediately.
He came up with the recipe to hold the Ctrl-key pressed while clicking.
This seemed[/n] to work: the popup comes up.

But my shout of joy turned ou to have been too early:
The thing does [b]not
work Mad :
The information from the open eBay page is not taken over.
And this way the thing is pretty [b]useless[/].

Too sad ... Frown :-(

Thanks a million Puppy Raiser!

I had already opened a support case, shortly afetr posting here. Instan replies <!!> (thanks support teams).
As a follow up I will forward your link which seems most valuable to me.

There seems something "forbidden" with the code of the applet.
AFAICS the script will have to be modified ASAP because it will not be too long until SP2 will be delivered.

When I asked here I had the popup blocker disabled, entered eBay and AS to the lists of Trusted Sites (for IE as well as the Popup Blocker), all scripting options enabled and securtity level down to the lowest possible already .
To no avail.

Following a suggestion by AS support, I meanwhile can open the applet by holding Ctrl pressed when clicking.
So there's a workaround which does the job for me in the moment.

But the issue needs to be taken care of by the developers.

Thanks again and regards from Germany

Follow up

There's a serious mistake in my previous postings (reply to Mrs. M).

The applet can be opened and is fully functional if one holds Ctrl pressed whilst clicking.

I obviously got confused during my testing. Seems that I had tried it out on on the "My eBay" page instead of a page with an auction. :-(
This hurts. Terribly.

Rainald
