Sniping something I have already bid on?

Think of A S as a one time proxy bid at the last possible momnet. It will bid whatevr portion it takes to win, if you placeda hgh enough snipe. If the snipe is placed they will charge you one free snipe. I assume you will place a snipe higher than your bid in place now.

So...there are two possible outcomes if I set up a higher Snipe:

1) No one else bids on it (ie I remain the highest bidder) and AS places another bid for me at the last moment,but it will be the next increment up.

2) Someone else bids and then (assuming it works!) the snipe will just be like me placing a normal bid at the last moment.

Right?

Oh, and , don't forget to bid your max you are willing to pay when you set your snipe!

I've got it set at 8 seconds for now, it finishes at 13:36 tomorrow, so that should be ok, shouldn't it? Fingers crossed anyway!

My personal choice is to use 8 seconds during normal times! On Sunday, during primetime, PST, PM between 5 and 8:30, I add 15 seconds. On the hour, half, and quarter hour, I add 10 seconds. These are very busy traffic times for Ebay. It works for me! Remember to bid your max as the highest bid wins! Happy Sniping

Mrs. M - In an auction where the bidder places a manual and an AS bid, and wins at or less than the manual amount doesn't AS still consider it a 'win' by AS (and charges the AS fee or deducts a free snipe)? That's what keeps me from doing both in those cases where I don't use AS (which is very rare!).

Maybe I'm confused tonight, but I don't see why a subsequent bid (with no other bidders intervening) would automatically jump up a bid increment. I believe it would generally remain the same. (An exception would occur if the previous winning bid was short of a full increment, in which case eBay would use enough of the second bid to top it off.)

Am I mistaken? I will appreciate if someone can clarify my understanding. Thanks.

Several people bidded after me anyway, so my snipe wouldn't have been against my own bid.

In the end, the bidding got too high, so I cancelled my snipe and set it up on another identical item that looks like it could go for less!
