I've just lost my third Auction. I have the cross hairs on two more yet. I'm terrified. All I get is "Invalid pass / ID". My ID has been the same since I began. Forget ID's.

Password? It has to be in there somewhere. But, after losing two vital auctions to this error, today I checked, checked, double checked, spun round as I made like I was walking away and checked they weren't giving me the fingers behind my back. Then checked, just to show I was checking.

My password IS the same on the Bay as here. STILL AS tells me the Bay tells you my PW is wrong. I lose Another auction Frown

Yeppers. Crawled through ye FAQ's. I'm still here. What I've done differantly, today, since that latest blow out - and what I want ye opinions on, please; I've dumped ALL my AS And Bay Cookies. Then, I've gone back to the Bay and..... Yeppers... Set my PW and Checked it. Done the same inside AS.

I now have a fresh jar of Cookies. Dead set, 100% certain Password, here and on the Bay. If ye want me to, I'll give ye ALL my details and ye can look for yeself - if that's possible? - Anything! Only the second of these two coming Snipes? My life depends on that one. It's SO important to me. Hence my apprehension.

Anyone got a duff auction I can Snipe, between now and tommorrow? Just to see the darn system work???

Incidently; Before this PW issue arose - yeppers, I did have occasion to change PW, back then - I used AS and was dancing around the room with delight as that bugger did the work. I want to take it to my Group and tell all my mates to get with it. When it works, it's absolutely Fantastic! When it back fires? Well, see my ME page; I can only afford to select the most very desperatly needed traps to go after. Real one offs. When I lose? I'm lost.

Thanks, people.

I'll leave it till the morning before hitting them then. This next target hasn't taken a bid yet and ends tommorrow. I know the value of the trap and want it enough to pay a bit more. So, if I don't get a certified sort out in time, I'll just chuck a heavy bid at the last moment. Far from ideal, but...

Thing is, I'm pretty convinced the Cookies should have done it.... It's just that last auction. It'd be the Third miss on this same seller and he Really offers the goods I seek.

Thanks Smile

Sorted!!! Got my Trap!

Ok, I confess: The stress became too much for me and I just slung my bank account into a bid on the Next one, as that is Such a valuable one, to me. But, last night, I layed a test bid on some trap I'd have happily bought, if I got it for the next to nothing I offered.

Turns out the other guy had me covered. He got the trap - as I'd rather suspected and hoped. But now, even as I write this, the WINNER mails are flooding in! Big Grin Right, I'm off to Pay Pal to settle it! (I've already set a Sniper on my next trap! Wink Now we're cooking with gas!

Oh, before I forget and in case I haven't mentioned it: Yeppers. I changed my Password again, to the one I'd changed it to before (?!) only this time the bugger's took! So: Lesson learned, people. Check. Check. Check. Then TEST before going for that Big One Wink

Steve.
Yeppers! Ye'd better believe it! I've had a life long obsession with the things. Even though the ones I like best have never even been legal, in my life time.

I don't know where you're from, Steve, but I'm in UK. We banned the Gin Trap just about as I appeared on the scene. Thus I could never have used that sort, had I wanted to. I am a Rat Catcher of sorts though. Ye know how Carpenters all seem to have this obsession with old, wooden Block Planes? Same thing. It's something about the Tools of the old Craftsmen who went before us.

Having said that, how many Phillatilists are Postmen? Stuffed birds in country pubs? ( Pint of HSB and a dead Owl, please, Landlord! ). See? And with me, it's Traps. I've only been on line three years. Discovered the Bay less than a year ago. Yet, since that defining moment, I've spent THOUSANDS!!! Quite liturally!

I spent all day yesterday discussing Traps - advising Bayers on their values and such. Buying a few more! All last night, doing the same. Now your mail has called me away from discussing The Beautiful Addiction with another guy! Big Grin

Must dash now. I have some more work to do on my Yahoo Group: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Traps_UK/

Join up and take a look, if ye like. It may remove your fearfull suspicion that we're all nutters who love to hear an animal squeel! We simply place value on old fashioned steel, formed into certain conformations. (Others I know collect car Registration Plates).

Heh! Ironically, aside from my " AR " ( Top Maker! ) BEAR Trap, my most mouth watering item, to date, is a bloody great Dog Trap! And I absolutely Worship Dogs! Strange, isn't it? But all perfectly harmless Wink

Steve ( " Traps " )
I've been on this earth long enough not to pass judgement on the whimsies of others, Traps. Why, I know one fellow who collects items mentioned in the Sherlock Holmes stories, and even has his house -- a whole house, mind you -- decorated to match Holmes's digs at 221B Baker Street! His obsession knows no bounds, even though many of the items he has accumulated are rare and quite expensive.

Leg-hold traps are outlawed in most of the United States where I live, but "humane" traps such as Havahart are still used to control animals that make pests of themselves. And people who dare to wear fur coats and the like are apt to find themselves and their finery splattered with red paint by animal sympathizers. Razz

So, enjoy! You and your friends are no more "nutters" than other types of collectors. Big Grin
So glad you asked that question Steve, coz I didnt want to look like a twit for asking an obvious question. Ooops, not saying you looked like a twit (theres goes my typing before thinking - I am too lazy to hit the delete button that many times :P ), I mean I am glad it wasnt something that I should of known, some sniper lingo Smile
Traps, my dad and brother have an interesting collection of traps used in Australia. They are all outlawed here too, strange, you are allowed to own them but not use them.
Someone I've been talking to hit me last night to say eBay has REMOVED their Gin Traps from sale!!! "Unsuitable"!

This is a british woman, selling old british Gins - and, yeppers, Everyone states they're for wall hangers only. ( Well except One lunatic individual who states his one could make a nice User. I'm off to have a word in His shell like as soon as I've done here! )

I checked. Sure enough, load of nice steel's disapeared. Thing is; Load more Hasn't! And that lot left Also being offered by perfectly legitimate brit Bayers of solid repute. Specifically as wall hangers.

Obviously, US and AUS are still busy and happily churning out truck loads too. Or were when last I looked, ten hours ago. Smacks to me of 'Sniping' of another sort. A rival might have spiked her. Or something more sinister. I'm looking into this one.

Australia? Yeppers. Foot Hold Traps are largely outlawed in Oz now. But Dog Trappers can use them, under liceance and with the addition of a Strychnine soaked rag round the jaws. Snap! (Thud?). Dog feels the grip and goes for it in response. Mouth full of Strychnine. (No Comment).

Bugger is, they use some traps I'd give my legs for! So valuable they could sell up and buy some seemingly far better suited US traps for the job. But, as an American Trapper / Writer noted, back at the turn of the century; The Ozzies, like us Brits, are a bone headed conservative bunch who simply insist on plodding along as they've always done. Modern US Traps are desighned with Humanity Very High on the desighn prioraty list. ( Here come the Poison Key Board mails Roll Eyes )

How many in my Collection? Asking me today? 98. Two more in mid Atlantic. May reach the Ton on Monday. Three more, bought and paid for on the Bay... I'm looking at some more today. Always interested in offers! Big Grin

My main focus has become USA's Blake & Lamb simply because, where I was brought up, Gins were impossible to get hold of. Discovered the Bay this year and have added about 80% since then. US Steel was everywhere then - still is.

Only the last few months, since a certain Ozzie Bayer paid a **** load for a Gin, the Bay's erupted. Now Gins are pouring off pub walls and onto the Bay. I personally Know there's 100's, if not 1,000's more being held in reserve, to be drip fed on for a couple of years yet! Eek

( Heh! I told someone, just the other night: " Want to get me Talking? Just ask me one, simple question about Traps and watch! ". Now see what ye've done?! Razz )

Listen, to save some Band Width here, and lest we attract anyone else harbouring the Beautifull Disease, here's my place: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Traps_UK/

It's All there Wink (And all the ID stuff's well common knowledge on the Web. I've no Security probs with it Smile )

I'm " Old Traps UK ", on the Bay. Check out my ME page. I've installed a box for AS! Proud to be a Winning Sniper, me! Big Grin

Steve / Traps
EBay is very inconsistent with their stand on "banned" items. I collect (and shoot) muzzle-loading weapons. A year or so ago eBay decided they weren't going to sell firearms any longer, probably because they really had no control over who was buying what and which Federal law was being violated. Couldn't really blame them. But the muzzle-loaders continued to be offered until a few months ago. Then they, too went off eBay accompanied by some legal folderol about eBay not selling anything that could propel a projectile that could harm anything or anyone. But they were still allowing bows and arrows and even crossbows. Then they banned crossbows, sort of. Enforcement of the ban was and is strictly hit or miss, mostly miss. Same thing with muzzle-loaders. Then sellers came up with the idea of taking the muzzle-loaders apart and selling the pieces separately, since nothing could be propelled until the whole thing was put together. But today I just received, by US Priority Mail, a perfectly functional .50 caliber muzzle-loading rifle that I bought, all in one piece in one auction, on eBay last week. Go figure. Confused

I'll bet someone tries the same dodge with gin traps: sell one jaw at a time or something like that. In fact, Traps, you might want to start circulating that idea. Big Grin
Big Grin As anyone who handles Traps knows; The jaws are easily popped out! Trappers have to do it all the time, changing springs and such.

Ok. I'd best say nothing more here. There's enough idiots out there who'd stop a man collecting Classic Cars, because they're not fitted with CAT's and Air Bags, if you follow...

That's an astounding sharp idea though. One that I shall most definatly be whispering of! Full credit to ye, mate! Thanks!

Traps.
So, 'Last Night' I'd gone to the eBay "Discussion Board" and put out a shout for any fellow Trap Collectors? Just a 'Hyah!'. I found, today, one guy had made a light hearted and somewhat banal remark in response and that's all I got.

Then it hit the fan (There are now NO - BRITISH Gin's on the Bay. They've totalled us. Right?)

So, I've gone back to their "Discussion" board and requested a response from the Bay themselves. Made it blatently clear that I expected them to follow form; My Post would vanish and, pretty soon, " Old Traps UK " would be escorted from the building.

Yep. Just been back for a look. Slyly as ye like, my original shout still stands. So, there I am, in a pub with no beer, asking what everyone would like to drink - yeah. Keep up those appearences, eBay! So, I posted This:

" Oh, come, come now, eBay! Naughty, sneaky! First you take away our *right* to buy and sell scrap metal on the system we've all paid into for so long, so hard. Now you seek to simply black us out from Discussing your underhand behaviour by blacking out any DISCUSSION of it on Your " Discussion Board ", eh?

How about ye show a little more manners? Give us some word on why it's OK to offer barely disguised Paedophilia related material ( " Cute, blonde Boy Scout " )? Totally blatent Abduction / Torture / Rape *Fantasy* comics? But 50 year old relics? Oh NO!!!

Come on. Say SOMETHING?

Steve ".

Now it's here, getting seen. Now I'll take it to my Group and Post it there. Then I'll make the rounds of some Forums I know. I'll Post it there too :-)

And, when they sling my antagonistic botty off their corrupt, stinking, Neo Nazi run little empire? I'll write some more and Post THAT left right and centre!

We're, most of us here, people, because we PAY them for our advertising space. WE make the Bay work. WE make them rich. Don't laugh too loud at My antics, dear reader. Just what is it YOU like to buy and sell on there - untill they decide you simply can't?

You'll recieve NO Warning. NO Explanation. NO Right to Appeal. They'll just DUMP you and the other people.

Wait. Watch and See.

Traps.
Feel a little better now, Traps? Get it off your chest a bit? I've a feeling that eBay bans various things because their lawyers tell them it's safer that way. Or their President thinks it's more Politically Correct not to sell noisy old guns or nasty old traps. Whatever, it's their shauri, their show. Not that we have to like it. Frown
When I get my DUFFUS Mole Trap! Big Grin ( No, it's not even a Gin and is strictly cosher over here - except, most likely, on the Bay! )

Do I sound like the sort of bloke to meekly fade away and give up? LOL! Ye don't keep and breed my sort of Dogs for 25 years and learn nothing! Wink

Anyway, up notes are that I've just this minute come back from advertising that little need of mine elsewhere - sits and awaits result - and, mheanwhile, I nailed ANOTHER beauty, this afters, thanks to good ol' AS!

Now that I've finally got that nonsense between the two sites and the one Password sorted out, there's no stopping me! I'm Sniping away on Full Auto, cackling like a maniac all the while! (Well, at least untill 'Tommorrow', when I'll likely find they've kicked my sorry bum clean off the Bay! Eek 'Mind you; Every Paying member they alienate and / or lose is one that AS loses too. Remember that)

I beat my own mate to the punch with that one this afters though. Then I wrote to him, saying he really Should get AS for himself. Then I had the brass neck to direct him to my box, so I can further gain my Three, Free Snipes off him! 'Ruthless'? Moi?! ROTF! Big Grin

Traps.
Glad to hear you're running in high gear, Traps. It's perfectly acceptable to acquire free snipes for signing a friend onto AS; I did it for my younger son and got three freebies. Big Grin

You wrote, "'Mind you; Every Paying member they alienate and / or lose is one that AS loses too. Remember that."

I don't see any reason to remember that since neither AS nor its subscribers can do anything about what you say in eBay's chat rooms, or what eBay does about what you say. Razz
