Golly, all y'all's "deity" status is pretty intimidating... I mean, I'm a paper goddess, but what's that compared to conquering technology? Smile

I just joined AS and am having, on an admittedly mentally fuzzy day, a bit of confusion. I've set up a bid group with two items in it. I want to win either of them, but not both. I understand that with the numeral "1" in the amount box, as it is, AS will snipe the first, and if I win, cancel the second bid; if I lose the first, it will snipe the second bid.

Is that right?

Also, I've not found anywhere (ref: "mentally fuzzy" above) what AS's costs are. Can someone please refer me to the right page?

Thank you!

Don't quite agree with that definition for “stupid”, especially when someone on this forum applies that adjective to some ebay seller.

Is “stupid” a synonym for “fuzzy”? When I wake up, I’m sometimes mentally fuzzy, but I wouldn’t say I was necessarily stupid (work with me on this). My face is sometimes fuzzy, but not stupid (my face might be stupid-looking). And, even my vision is sometimes fuzzy.

Is the best way to avoid being stupid is to ask a question???
Thanks for the kind welcome. Smile

I don't find anything that says "Bid on the items in this folder until I win," but with slighly less mental fuzziness, it appears that the Bid Groups does cancel the rest after you win. I'll watch it anyway, since I don't want two of the thing!

Re fuzziness and stupidity: Fuzziness can (usually) be remedied by the application of a) enough sleep and/or b) enough caffeine. Stupidity, OTOH, tends to be, well, shall we say, a bit less amenable to treatment? Big Grin

Off to the coffeepot...
Rick,

Well, bannedAnna is kind of a pun on the kerchief, but it was given to me shortly after I got laid off from a job (without any cause whatsoever--within six months after, the group I'd been running went bankrupt).

I tend to be a little, shall we say, off the wall, and some people take offense at that. (I like to think of myself as kind, generous, diplomatic, and so forth, but I've been told I'm intimidating. So who knows?)

Door number three... What's behind that?

I think you’ll find a few off-the-wallers on this forum. The “offers” tend to be ignored by the non-offers. That’s not to say that you might not get the occasional rolly-eye (one of these little guys ==> Roll Eyes <==) in protest, but those are fairly harmless. I can’t remember anyone being permanently marred by a rolly-eye.

Uhuh - I meant weren't, that will teach me to post in here when I am still at work at 8pm Razz and nope, I wasnt really joking.

Look at all the hinky things going on.....florida, japan (is it japan?), Australia is at the other end in drought conditions and heaps of other types of strange weather.

Mother Nature and the El Niño are certainly keeping us on our toes.

Of course, I dont honestly think we will see an ice age whilst I am around to witness it, but all this has to be leading to something bigger.
Experts are basing their theories on 100-150 years of properly recorded data - a minute snapshot in the history of things. They now claim that Dinosaurs were wiped out by an ice age/meteor strike but it is just a theory. Well ditto global warming etc. I take it all with a pinch of salt!

R2 (with the gas central heating switched on!)
Whew! See what happens--I stop horsing around to work for a couple of days, and everybody starts chattering!

Mrs. M: Thank you for the welcome. Doubt that I'll be a frequent poster (too, too many irons on the barbie), but from time to time I'll behave like an outrageous old woman. Which is what I am. So it's appropriate. And I started doing it early that my sons are already used to it. Wink

Rick: Off-the-wall folks are generally the world's best. I actually own a listserv that I founded because those of us who were off the wall (and several other planes) were vociferously unappreciated by the boring, staidly on-topic types with all the spontaneity of bricks. Anyway, I love those little roll-ie eyed images. Roll Eyes

Bartelby: Well, of *course* I put "ie" on the ends of things. Doesn't *everyone*?? It's the best way there is to create technical terms in situations where knowledge lags behind experience. And, as a certified wordsmith, I have a piece of paper that allows me to make up words. Therefore, those dealies that let you carry your phone from room to room, the thingies that hang from the doorpost, and the foodies that hang around the dog-cuisine bin about this time of night. !!

Off to an election party. One must hope heavy drinking will not be required.
