I won an auction on the 17th. I paid for the item on the 19th. It was a PayPal transation only. I used the "Pay Now" button to send payment.

Come to find out, the email listed is NOT registered to PayPal. I have emailed the seller (through Ask Seller A Question) and gotten no response. I really don't want to leave any kind of feedback yet because the email address lists @us.military??? If the guy is in the military, I know that it may be a while before I could hear from him.

What I would like your opinions on are:

Should I just go ahead and cancel the payment and wait to hear from him, or should I just leave things as they are?

Thanks all,
Crafty

Well, as a winner you can go to find member with the auction# and get even his phone #. I would do that and even if you do not want to call, I would hold on to it. You have 30 days, I believe to retract your payment...that is request to do so. It has been a little less than 2 weeks. Give him a couple more days and then see if you can get the email registered to Ebay. Write him and tell him your intentions. If no response, get your money back.It is a TOS for him not to have an Ebay registered address. Paypal can be different.
If this were my win, I don't think I'd cancel the paypal transaction - that would leave you open to negative feedback, however I would try to email the seller again and maybe check out the support at paypal. If the email is not registered that means the person actually DOES NOT have an account yet, he may be in the process of setting up an account.

If the seller is not VERIFIED just means he hasn't linked an account and unconfirmed is the address thing.

I guess I'd make sure before I cancelled anything. You could also try contacting safe harbor at ebay - they helped me once when I was in a bind.

Tell Safe Harbor you are worried that you'll get negative fb if you cancel the payment and that you haven't heard from the seller. They may email him for you as well.

Since it was only paid for on the 19th, which means it is entirely possible the item wasn't even mailed until the 22nd or later I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if the items is coming a long way, it may have been sent parcel post which sometimes takes up to 10 days anyway.

I don't usually get concerned until it's well past a month if I don't get something.

Keep us posted on what happens..
By cancel payment, I assume that option is on your paypal payment, and you are not talking about filing a fraud case.

If you CAN cancel payment that means they have not accepted payment yet. If that's true, I think I *would* cancel. I find it hard to believe your package is on its way if they haven't even claimed payment yet. I would send a polite email stating same and why. If and when you hear from them, payment can easily be made again.

If they were being dishonest, payment would have been accepted and withdrawn, so I too would hold off on any feedback for now. You may find there has been some sort of family emergency or accident.

p.s. You have the worst luck... Where do you find these auctions? Big Grin
I've emailed the guy again. So I'll wait.

I'm not real sure about the email address, (us.army.mil) - I wasn't allowed to get anywhere near a computer back when I was in the Army. - But I am guessing that with this extension, he is probably overseas somewhere and on commitment and can't get to a PC of some kind. Come to think of it, no one was, and laptops were still just a dream in someone's mind! The Army only move on TONS of paperwork!Big Grin

I think I'll wait until at least the end of next week, but will continue to email him at least 3 more times.

I am seriously beginning to believe that I am not meant to own Babylon 5 DVDs or the Final Fantasy VIII game! lol

Puppy - personally, I wish I wouldn't find them! lol But aren't you glad that it's me and not you?

I'll keep you posted.

- wouldn't happen in the British Army! Wink

If you've sent an email via the eBay Ask Seller a Question then that's almost 100% sure to reach the guy so relax and wait for his return.

Crafty....us.army.mil is a secure military address. He/she? is in the service somewhere. I do know that the email is up and down ALOT and they have limited access. One of my sons has only 1 hour a day to use the computer. That's not very long! I didn't go back and read all the posts but if the feedback is ok I'd just wait, and keep emailing until you get an answer.

I was thinking more about that, and it might be that army.com won't let the email from ebay thru. My second son said they aren't even able to "look" at ebay. Have you tried to send an email outside of the -ask seller a question-?

If they cannot access eBay, how/why would a soldier be selling on it? Confused
Oh no of course not. I think most places are able to get it. I didn't mean that the seller couldn't use ebay, just that in my son's case he can't. But it is possible that the army.mil is not letting in the ebay mail. It may recogize it as spam. Iuno, just my thoughts. I'm goofy today anyway Razz I started a new exercise program and the first tow days are fasting. I'm hungry!!!! Frown (any tips Mory?) I want to loose 25 lbs. Every year I get older, it seems like it gets 10x harder. That and my bad feet make it hard....but i'm going to be slimmer when my son gets home so he will say "mom!!"
But I did get the grandaughters dresses done and mailed. Phew!! That's a load off my mind! Now I have two exams for my master gardener course to catch up on. How the heck did I get so far behind?? Confused

Making two dresses to me is a monumental task finished and I commend you!

Thanks Mrs.M
I asked myself a couple of times during the 12 hours I worked on them yesterday if I was nuts or what!! It would have been soooooo much easier to just buy some, and proly cheaper!! But hopefully the girls will feel very special in their new dresses. If momma sends me a pic I'll post it. I used to make my daughter quite fancy dresses when she was small. She told me she loved to wear them because nobody else had one like it. Smile

......................Grasses test done, fruts to go. Should be more interesting than grass!
UPDATE:

I've the guy again, but so far, no response. In the last email I sent, I told him that PayPal will only allow me 30 days and if I didn't hear from him, that I would cancel the payment but would leave the money in my account, so that once I got the right PayPal address, then I could immediately get him paid. I also told him that I understood how the military works, so I'll still wait. I did find the "End Of Auction Notice" and according to it, the seller is stationed at Ft Bragg. So now, I REALLY don't understand! But being ex-military - I know the rules, "Hurry Up And WAIT!" lol

MG - The EOA notice had an email address, so I sent it to that. I usually don't keep those emails after I've paid, so I was really happy to find it. Wish me luck.

On another note, I haven't run into any other problems! (Knock on wood! Big Grin) But I did have something strange happen. I bought a set of walkie talkies, immediately sent an e-check, and when I went back to "My eBay" feedback for the SELLER had already been left!! Figure that one out! TO make it even stranger, about an hour later, I logged on to check and see if I won my screen house, and dad-nab-it, the "Leave Feedback" button was back! I give up. I really need a drink!

MG - can't wait to see the dresses. I love sewing. I just finished up a cradle set for my new grandson. Now I have to finish the crib set! Do you quilt? What kind of batting do you use (if you do.)

Thanks to all for your help,
Crafty
