won more than one item in my bid group

I won the first item in my bid group, but never cancelled the others. A few days later, I won another item in my bid group. I thought the remaining snipes were supposed to be cancelled after you win? I had no choice but to pay for both, hopefully I can resell one of them, but still a hassle.
