Reply to "Won auction, need help with feedback please..."

Their auction description definately states that the device both works with ethernet and includes software. I'd send another polite email stating you didn't get what the seller described, and would like a refund. If they balk you can complain to eBay (and paypal if you used them). For <$15 it might be more trouble than you want to go through, but the seller does have an obligation to be correct in their description.

As an aside ... you might want to talk to a senior tech from your isp. It might be as easy as them asking you for the 'mac' address of the device and enabling it on their end. I've found that, in general, the 'first contact' techs are little better than the people I always get at 'help' desks (turn your computer off and back on ... like I haven't done that a MILLION times!!!)
