I'm one of em. 18 seconds is more, much more, than enuf time to react. It's only not enuf time if for some reason you're limited to a single window. Assuming that 18 secs is not enuf space to react is just wrong. With multiple windows, a backup bid amount entered in advance and all set to "Confirm", and minimum concentration, even 7 or 8 seconds should be quite enuf, let alone 18. When I've bothered, I've been able to react easily to bids placed something like 10 to 12 seconds before close.
