Why the massive jump in bid?

I introduced a friend to Auction Sniper today as he wanted to bid on an auction that ended when he was going to be driving and couldn't bid himself.

The thing is Auction Sniper went in with a bid that jumped from £2500 to £3750 ?!

What I'm not sure about is, could my friend have won the bid at £2510 or was £3750 the (hidden) reserve level?

Does Auction Sniper automatically go straight to the reserve level or did it just cost him £1240 by bidding too high?

The item in question was on ebay.co.uk, item num: 270095279574
