Very Puzzled

Hi all, I am very puzzled.. (I placed a max bid for a certain item). The problem is I got an email that I have won the auction from Auction Sniper (but not from eBay) The price in the Auction Sniper shows a final price more than my max bid. The auction was a private auction but I do not see the amount I bid for reflected anywhere in the eBay page. I am now puzzled whether I won the item or not? How do I find out?
