It works great, all right.

But if you're cutting the time that close you run the risk of a sudden slowdown preventing your snipe from making it to eBay on time. I usually use 8 seconds, and longer if the auction ends on a Sunday night or on the hour, half hour, or quarter hour. Remember, it's the high bid, not nescessarily the last bid, that gets the widget!
