I don't believe Ebay allows you to bid against yourself.

Prior to discovering Auction Sniper, if I were to be away from my computer at auction's end, and I REALLY wanted the item, I'd place another higher bid even if I were already the high bidder. All it did was raise my proxy amount. My original bid still stood, I just had more in the till to work with should someone bid against me.
