I didn't think my lower bid would show up *after* the winning bid.

I had the impression that proxy bids show up all along the way so that you could easily drive up the price. Is that not correct? The proxy bid "changes" as necessary?

As I mentioned, fortunately this wasn't a "crucial" item to my collection.
