AS bids as if you were bidding so will get the same error message that you'd get if you bid matched the existing maximum bid. The method I use is to add a penny/cent or two to my snipe to up my chances (eg. £2.02 instead of £2.00). Obviously this only really works when there's a proxy bid in place by the other bidder - otherwise your snipe must be at least one increment above the max. There is something called incremental bids that you could look at as well but it might confuse you!
