Many thanks Jabbergah for your input.

The Wooden Dowel is a step in the right direction. Except as I remember the actual Poster Roller had a slit cut through the length of the wood and a mechanism to turn the poster
and/or paper to keep it uniform.

I'd like to purchase the actual Poster Roller
for its intrinsic value.
