Sure. That's the idea, always bid the maximum you are willing to pay. Just remember, be prepared to pay the 5 grand or whatever your bid, someone could come along and bid the item up to or near your max bid (it happened to me once)

. Also, bid an odd amount like $5,007.75. Some other people will probably show up and give you more specific advice (and chew me out if I'm wrong). Good luck!
