Some hifi buffs insist on valves (and they're made visible as a design feature!) rather than all the hi-tech stuff we have today. I don't understand how vinyl records can sound better than CDs but some of the same buffs (maybe a subset or vice-versa) insist this is the case. Maybe it's the kind of music I listen to?
