Lol, in the UK? I must say, I do do that here in SW Florida..for good reason!
Several years ago, my youngest son went into a dark dug well to pull a pump. He no more than decended to the bottom when ten or so huge king snakes fell down on him. I don't think he even touched the sides coming up!!
