Shirl: I'm gaining weight so what else? I have no will power and cook too much.
JAMMA: I just found where you ask how old the building
is I'm living in. It's a little vague.. I went to Dogpile and looked up Rockdale New York. There are a couple nice pictures of my place. The photo, Hotel & Post Office buiilding - Rockdale, NY. In this photo, the Hotel is on the left and my building is on the right, across the street. This is from this page:

"In the 1800's it contained one church (Union),
one district school, hotel, a saw and grist mill,
one store, a creamery, a carriage shop, blacksmith shop, two shoe shops and a population of 80.

The first merchant was Gaius Boughton in 1814.
The building was done in two parts. First the Store, and then "The Grange Hall was built in the back after thwe fire. The South side of the street was the wild side with
the Hotel - Bar and across the street was the
side with the Church, Store and Post Offioe. The Post Office was inside the front of the store. Lots of little cubicles behind a counter. (This is now where
my bed sits) After Gaius died it was bought by
a couple name McCloggin. He ran the store and she
ran the Post Office. (Although it was in his name.)
The store was the center of the community and
sold yard goods, shovels, and ground fresh coffee.
Later there was a Coke machine and you could
even buy a popsickle. But it was the pound of
fresh milled flour for 10 cents that brought
people in.When the Grange Hall burned they voted
to rebuild it across the street - It ended up
attached behind the store with a seperate entrance.
The Hall had a dance floor & Stage with two dressing
rooms. (I own the upright piano that was on the
stage) Saturday night there was a meeting - dance - often a movie and every couple weeks a live vaudeville act
The great hall is now empty and my landlord
stores his antiques there. When the wind howels and the blue slate slides off the roof I know the gosts of
Rockdale are dancing in the hall.. mory
