I've been watching the item for a week since it was first posted. It's a pinball machine that I've wanted for some time. My neighbors had this particular model pinball when I was a young kid so there's a nostalgia factor involved; I REALLY wanted this machine.
I heard about AuctionSniper.com from a member of a pinball mailing list I subscribe to. I thought I'd give it a shot. My first bid amount I set in AS was beat the day before the auction was to end so I upped my bid amount in AS and waited. A couple of hours before the auction end my bid amount was again beat. I hadn't made a manual bid at this point and I had cancelled my AS item for the pinball but then decided to up my bid one more time.
I had played around with the times and then settled on a 12 Second value after reading some of the posts here.
I then sat there and waited, refreshing my browser on the auction item for the last 5 minutes, watching the other snipers drive the price up, hoping that it wouldn't go too high and that AS would get my bid in on time.
All turned out well. I resisted the temptation to issue a manual snipe and still won.
