Just decide what amount you are going to bid, your absolute max, set the snipe for that amount, and be done with it. Since the point is to bid your max (since you only have one shot, so to speak), a sniper should not really rely on outbid notices. If the bid goes higher, you were not going to pay it, anyway, right? Otherwise, it is not really sniping.
