Hi - I haven't been able to find this info elsewhere. On Ebay's site, It says, "The system will bid up to your maximum amount. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you'll be outbid. BUT, if no other bidder has a higher maximum, you win the item."
I'm wondering how much time it takes Ebay's proxy bidding system to analyze a bid, then up that bid to ensure that the bidder with the highest Max. bid always wins. It seems to me that, since Ebay only increases the bid by increments, it may run out of time to bid to a bidders preset Max. bid and that you may not always win with the highest max. bid. Is that true?
Also, it seems the same thing would happen using AS since AS only tells Ebay my Max. bid and then lets Ebay take over. If AS gives Ebay my bid with 8 sec left, does Ebay have time to bid more than once on my behalf to ensure that I'll win, given that have the highest Max bid?
Also, I have read on these forums "Never use AS for must have items". Can someone explain this?
