Read the FAQ titled Why was my snipe 30 minutes early (Friday AM maintenance)?

Depending on when the auction ends, the snipe can be placed 2 hours before the end of the auction. Since the snipe will be placed before ebay’s scheduled maintenance (which is the same time that AS does its maintenance), lead time isn’t an issue, but somewhere between 8 and 12 seconds.
