eBay maintenance and placing snipes

Hi,

I am sniping an eBay item ending today during eBay maintenance hours. I have set it at 10 sec delay. I asked eBay live support whether bidding would be a problem during this time and they said that it may be a bit slower but that it likely won't be affected. They said it's mostly registration and placing new items and that placing bids shouldn't be a problem.

Were any of you in this type of situation ? Did your bids go through alright ? Should I set my delay to perhaps 20 or 30 sec ? That would suck 'cause the element of surprise is lost.
