ebay item lost because "Banned by Seller"?

How can this happen? I placed a snipe and did not win the item. I received an email back from Auction Sniper saying:
Banned by Seller
Your snipe did not win because of the reason above .

I checked my feedback and I have purchased from this seller in the past. We exchanged positive feedback in Decmeber of 2005. Has anybody had this happen to them before?
