Hi Puppy!

Thanks for extending my understanding of reserve auctions!

The difference in the old style & newer style of reserve auctions appears to be how ebay displays reserve-not-met bids. In the old style, IF THE MAX BID IS LESS THAN THE RESERVE, the LOWEST bid to exceed all competitive bids (similar to a non-reserve auction) is displayed. In the new style reserve auction, IF THE MAX BID IS LESS THAN THE RESERVE, the MAX bid is displayed. In BOTH types, if the MAX bid EXCEEDS the reserve, the winning bid then jumps to the LOWEST bid at or above the reserve which exceeds all competitive bids, just like a normal non-reserve auction.

Is this perception accurate? If this is correct, it just complicates how your spreadsheet needs to work - to be able to handle 2 different reserve auctions. Confused OR, you could just put your foot down, and say, "I don't do reserves!" Roll Eyes Wink
