The ironic part of it is, that I am not a saver nor a packrat by any means. My mother taught me to chuck what is not used, and I generally follow a rule that says if you have not used it in two years, you probably do not need it. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but it is the rule I go by, at home and work. Clothes, kitchen gadgets, unwanted gifts--they all are subject to this rule.

Now, books and collectibles are something different. Though I do an annual purge of unwanted books, most tomes are generally saved as reference tools, for personal or professional reasons. Last year's interstate move featured 42 cartons of books, which the movers lamented. I informed them that at least I had unloaded an additional eight cartons! When the house is completed, there will be another book purge, though on a much smaller scale. Needless to say, shelves are being built into the walls of three different rooms.

Collectibles, OTOH, are purely intended to cater to my sentimental and nostalgic self. They are intended to be displayed and serve as stressbusters to me, as well as plain enjoyment. Most of these are in one room (by mutual marital agreement Wink), so the room is pretty full!

I salute Rick on surpassing the 10k mark.
