Do people feel the need to work more? To add more stress to their lives? To find competition where there is none in the first place? Why are auctins "won" and "lost"? Sombody who has a little bigger budget, a little greater need, a whining kid that is a little louder, is the person who is going to obtain the auctioned item if you used the proxy bid that way it is supose to e used.
If you want to feel superior to somone else, think of the situation as you the bidder know better than to buy it for more that you decide that it is worth, and the fool that pays more than that is just that. A fool. What makes you think that just because you want a bargin, that someone else isn't willing to pay a fair price for the item.
If you bid what it is worth to you, and someone bids more, it is worth more to them, its that simple. You were underestimating the items value.
How are you going to stip sniping? Eliminate 3rd party biding? That just means that people are going to go back to their stop watches. If people don't bid what teh item is worth and expect to win it, they are going to be the same people complaining to you.
There is only one answer to someone wondering why they were sniped.
