Reply to "auction bidding"

You should be congratulated, because if you're losing most of your auctions, you know you're not paying the market price (or more) for anything.

I expect to lose nearly all the auctions I bid on. The 5% I win I get at very very low prices. Sometimes I'm embarrassed by this, and a couple of times I've had pity on the seller and asked him if he wanted to cancel the whole thing and relist it. I'm serious.

There's a lot of randomness in ebay final prices, and the same item that sells for $200 today may sell for $50 next week. If you're not in a hurry, you can decide the price you want to pay. You can get whatever you want on ebay tomorrow, but you'll pay through the nose for it. On the other hand, if you can wait a few months, and set up your bidgroups once a week, you can often get your item for less than half its market value.
