Another Newbie getting high on the power of sniping

Hi everyone, just won my first two auctions using AS. The first one was excellent - saved me coming into work to get on a computer at 3am (I live down under but all the good stuff is in the US or UK) and I ended up with a nice low win price, just had to beat one early bidder. The second one was a bit scarier - I was still at work so tried to watch it unfold by watching AS and ebay. One early bidder days ago who then returned a few hours before auction end to put in an extra higher bid presumably before going to bed. I was then a bit surprised to see my AS "snipe" go in about 14 minutes earlier than my 8 second lead time. An 'old adversary' came in with a bid with 30 seconds to go, I assume not a snipe as he had time to put in a second bid (which he wouldn't if my snipe had gone in on time) and I come out the winner but $3 higher than necessary? item #6319411675.
Just wanted to let any other newbies know that I'm very satisfied though. Was very sceptical and cautious to start with, I did a lot of google searching for any bad write ups about AS but found none - I also set up a new ebay ID. One quick question for the old pro's - having used up my first two freebies do I have to register a credit card to make sure that my next two snipes are placed while I'm away from the computer for the weekend? And a final question what other pitfalls are there for an overconfident newbie madly wielding his new weapon?? I've been reading Gordo's (?) comments about going in big and just a little afraid of some of my "usual suspect" opponents picking up the same ideas - it s always tempting to go just that little bit higher and more random than your real max.
